it's what happens when you go further." >> joe: the guys that sit in the front of the truck on thanksgiving. officer pat will present the galloping gobbler at the end of the game, a game that's taken a long time but a lot of fun. ten-point game, second and 21. blitz coming.
5:03 pm
cowboys pick it up and the pass caught by witten. that's out across the 42, a gain of 13. keenan robinson on the tackle. cowboys aren't finished yet but it is going to take a lot. trail 28-3 at the half. they closed it down to a seven-point game but a big field goal by kai forbath made it a ten-point game. on third down and eight, pass is caught. that's a first down. and the pass caught by witten, of course. ten yards, a first down for a guy that's on pace to have more catches as a tight end, more than any other tight end in a single season in the history of the league. >> troy: redskins are doing a lot of different looks in this situation on this drive. >> joe: romo gets bryant underneath. he's got to get out of bounds. and he does. at the 44. a gain of three.
5:04 pm
>> troy: redskins will obviously want to keep dez bryant or anyone else inbounds but they'll give up that underneath stuff. like i said, they've been crowding the line, then bailing out. got to be real careful when you do that. they're trying to get as deep as they can at the snap or just before the snap so that they don't give up any seams. but they're trying to disguise some coverages which you don't generally see. >> joe: romo is seven yards away through the air for his career high. he's thrown two picks. trails by ten. romo going for it all. got bryant down there -- williams came in and leveled his shoulder into the chest of dez bryant and may have saved a touchdo touchdown. >> troy: looked like
5:05 pm
he had a chance for it right there. he got his hands on it. looked like he had it. just at the last minute as he's coming down. you see right here. in the middle of the field, that's williams. he gets to the left. you got to stay true to the middle of the field and get depth. the redskins are fortunate because that's a ball that we've seen dez bryant catch many times. williams knocked it out. now third down and seven. underneath, pass caught, first down. clock will wind. cowboys have a time-out left. lance dunbar, good for 11. they're going to hold on to the time-out. and clock it with 36 seconds remaining. so romo now with a 441-yard day and he has set his personal record for most in a game and for the cowboys -- and really in general in the nfl.
5:06 pm
troy aikman is still on top with his 455-yard day on thanksgiving in '98. >> troy: well, unless he pulls off something miraculous here in this game, all three of those guys lost those games on thanksgiving. >> joe: second and ten. romo steps up and just dumps it off to dunbar who can't make the catch. that might be a good thing for dallas, romo's got to take shots into the end zone. >> troy: you got to start forcing the ball and he could have. you just can't -- there's just no time to be dumping it underneath. he maybe gets out of bound but they've got to force something down the field. dez bryant to me would be that guy. even if they roll a safety, which they will, he's got the ability to go up and get physical and make a play. >> joe: third down and ten. 31 second left. and a time-out.
5:07 pm
better snap this time for romo. doing all he can, he's got to get it into the end zone. and it throws it away. now fourth down with only 23 seconds left. pressure by jarvis jenki jenkins, the second year pro out of clemson. he does not have a sack this season. >> troy: they're going to bring in the field goal team to see if they can at least -- fourth and ten, chances of converting that aren't real good. they'll kick the field goal here. they were trying to get something quick to make this a more makable field goal but at least give themselves a chance assuming he makes it here, to go with an onside kick, then get one more opportunity. >> joe: 51-yard try by bailey which would match his career high. the kick with a flag down is good.
5:08 pm
it's an offside against the redskins. so the points will stand. and now we'll have an extra chance for dallas with an onside kick try and what will be a one-score game. >> referee: offsides. number 96 defense. penalty is declined. field goal is good. >> troy: barry cofield. only 18 seconds left with one time-out and maybe a glimmer of hope. >> troy: well, on the third down play, they flushed tony romo. dez bryant who i thought would be the guy who would go down the field, he ran a shallow crossing route. so the idea is try to pick up the first down, get something quick if you fail but at least you get some yards to add to that field goal. it doesn't matter. bailey makes the field goal. now with 18 second left, an onside kick to come. >> joe: robert griffin iii has a quarterback rating of 146.1. eight touchdowns, one interception over his last two games against
5:09 pm
the nfc east. he's about to up his record barring the miraculous to 2-1 against the nfc east. and he will have ten touchdowns against these division opponents compared to only two interceptions and a quarterback rating of over 140. this division is going to be bothered by rg3 for who knows how long. >> troy: it may be this year as ell. >> joe: here's the onside kick try. it is returned by deangelo hall. he's going to slide down at the 1 as deangelo hall on the return is going to end this game. >> troy: why would he not just score? >> joe: i don't know. >> troy: i don't know what that was all about. but anyway -- >> anyway the game is basically over and deangelo hall just slid right through there, had an easy go to the end zone. and the defensive back
5:10 pm
slides to the ground. so it's a seven-point game. cowboys have one snap, one time-out rather. and we may have one more snap or we'll see if the cowboys want to bother using that time-out. >> troy: we'll see whether or not the cowboys learned anything from tampa bay. if they're just going to say, okay, game over and accept it or if they're going to come off the ball. >> joe: it looks like it is thanksgiving. yep. and that is going to do it on thanksgiving as both teams will leave here with records of 5-6. in the nfc east, it is wide open with the giants playing on sunday night at home against the green bay packers. and then the redskins get a bit of a break and they will host the giants next weekend. lowe's post-game show is coming up.
